Our Solar installers recently completed a significant new solar energy installation at Weldon Village School, providing a sustainable and efficient energy solution that reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility and innovation. This project features a 104.92 kWp solar power system, designed and installed to meet the campus’s growing energy needs while helping to reduce their carbon footprint.
The installation includes 244 Longi 430W panels, known for their high efficiency and reliable performance. These panels have a very good energy conversion, capable of converting more sunlight into clean energy, ensuring the campus has a steady supply of electricity.
The panels are securely mounted using an East-West Van der Valk mounting system. This system was chosen for its durability and optimal positioning, which maximises sun exposure throughout the day and ensures consistent energy production.
The energy generated by the panels is managed by Solaredge optimisers and inverters. These devices play a crucial role in enhancing system efficiency by reducing energy losses and allowing for real-time monitoring and control.
All materials required for the installation, including the panels, mounting systems, and electrical components, were supplied by our trusted partners Solen and Greentech. We have worked with these suppliers on multiple solar installations before and are known for their high-quality products and reliable service, ensuring that the project met the highest standards of performance and safety that we set.
Given the scale of the project and the need to minimise disruption, a crane lift was used to ensure safety. The crane operations were carried out over the weekend, avoiding any interference with school activities.
Coordinating the delivery and installation of materials required meticulous planning. Working closely with Solen, Greentech, and Synergy Lifting Solutions, we scheduled deliveries and crane operations to fit seamlessly into the project timeline, ensuring that each phase was completed without delays and minimal impact on the day to day scheduling of the school.
The crane lift was operated over the weekend to prevent disruption to the schools daily activities. And while this approach was the sensible option, it still required careful coordination and communication with school authorities to ensure that all safety protocols were followed and that the project proceeded smoothly.
The 104.92 kWp solar panel system will generate a significant portion of the schools energy needs going forwards, leading to substantial cost savings on electricity bills. This financial benefit can be redirected to other critical areas of the schools development and maintenance.
By utilising renewable energy, Weldon Village School will significantly reduce its carbon footprint. This solar installation is estimated to offset a substantial amount of CO2 emissions annually, contributing to UK efforts to combat climate change.
