Nexus, Hillington Industrial Estate

With energy prices still rising, Nexus Packaging took the decision to have solar panels fitted to their business site in Hillington Industrial Estate.

Like so many businesses looking at solar power, they were looking for an energy efficient solution to help them reduce their carbon footprint and significantly lower their energy bills.

Just like all of our business solar installations, we worked through the process including site survey, design, structural assessment etc.

But as with so many things in business, sometimes plans can change unexpectedly. Being able to adapt to our clients needs is of top priority for us and something we have always been proud of. With plans ready and a week to go before the installation, this project doubled in size!

Not a problem for our team though

We redesigned the entire project and were ready to get started on this installation. Because we conduct thorough site surveys and structural assessments, we were able to quickly redesign the entire system for the client.

With the new designs approved, we were able to get to work on this new solar panel installation which consisted of 378 Canadian Solar 435w panels.

The new solar panels were all connected to two individual 80kwp Solis inverters to create a 164.43kWp system with an impressive output of over 146,000KWH per annum.

It is easy to see why so many businesses in the UK are turning to commercial solar panel installations.  With new solar pv systems like this, Nexus will not only benefit from a massive cost savings on their existing energy bills but also a significant reduction in their carbon footprint. Ideal for the environmentally conscious business.

Solar for Business

In 2023, we’ve seen a massive increase in the number of businesses switching to solar energy, and for good reason.

With the volatile nature of the energy market, many businesses are struggling to stay on top of the ever increasing energy bills that they are having to endure. By switching to solar your business is investing in the future of your company and giving yourself more control over your energy expenses.

While the cost savings for your business may seem obvious, having solar panels fitted for your business also presents an opportunity for ‘Solar income’. Put simply, this means you have the option to sell excess energy generated by your solar panels, back to the national grid. So not only will you be saving on your energy bills, you will also be able to profit from them.

Finance Options for fitting Solar Panels

A common concern for many businesses that are considering making the switch to solar, is the upfront investment. At Low Energy Services we can offer a number of finance options that allow your business to take advantage of solar energy today.

The benefits of Solar Energy

Converting the freely available solar rays from the sun into clean electricity and heat has many advantages.  Here are just some of the benefits related to using solar energy as a renewable energy source for your home or business.

reduce your carbon footprint with green energy

Reducing your impact on the environment

Starting with the green aspect. Solar energy has the least negative impacts on the environment in comparison to other forms of energy generation. Solar energy does not produce greenhouse gases or pollute our water supply. It does not create noise pollution and requires little in the way of maintenance compared to other green energy solutions.

clever thinking from our installation team

It works everywhere

You may think that because you live in Scotland, the idea of having solar panels is laughable.  But with the latest in solar panel technology, as long as there is sunshine, solar energy can be captured and used. Scotland has anywhere between 1000 and 1500 hours of sunshine per year depending on where you are.  And those are all hours that can be used to generate energy collected from the sun.

how to lower your energy costs through green energy

Reducing energy bills

When you take advantage of solar panels, you take advantage of the cost savings that come with it.  Generating your own electricity means that you will rely less on ‘the grid’. This will translate into savings on your energy bill and if you sell unused electricity back to the grid, it can become a source of income. And the more energy you can capture from solar panels, the less you need from your supplier and the more you can sell.

Peak times of sun matching electricity peaks

Electricity is in demand the most between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm.  And this is also when you can take the most advantage of the sun.  Electricity generated from solar panels during these times can lower the cost of the electricity you need to purchase from the national grid.
