Government Solar PV Grant Applications

Time Running Out: Applications Close This July

Businesses across England have a limited window to secure significant funding under the government’s Improving Farm Productivity Grant (Round 2) and we are urging eligible clients to act now before applications close in July 2025.

The scheme, led by the Rural Payments Agency (RPA), supports farm and horticultural businesses in England looking to invest in new technology to increase efficiency, boost productivity and reduce their environmental impact. Among the eligible technologies? Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems – our specialty.

This is a golden opportunity for farms and horticulturalists to make a smart investment in renewable energy. With grant funding of up to £100,000 available for solar PV installations, the potential savings are huge – but time is short. We’re encouraging any interested business to contact us now.

Who Can Apply

  • Farmers and horticulturalists in England
  • Contractors with an English business address (note: contractors are not eligible for solar PV funding)

What’s Covered

Eligible solar PV grant costs include:

  • Solar panels
  • Solar batteries
  • Inverters
  • Utility meters
  • Grid connections
  • Power diverters

These installations must be on farm building rooftops or irrigation reservoirs. Ground-based solar arrays and installations on shaded or north-facing roofs do not qualify.

Funding Levels

  • Minimum grant: £15,000 (25% of a £60,000 project)
  • Maximum grant: £100,000 per applicant business

The grant can be used alongside private finance, including loans and certain agricultural schemes – but not other public funds.

How to Apply

Only businesses invited to apply through the RPA’s initial checker stage can submit a full application. The process is competitive, and priority is given to projects that:

  • Improve productivity
  • Introduce innovation
  • Reduce environmental impact
  • Use renewable energy sources

We are offering initial consultations to help eligible businesses scope their projects and understand how to meet grant criteria. We can handle the technical side, from system design and installation to documentation and compliance, all with our in-house solar installers and designers.  All you need to do is start the conversation with us.

Deadline: July 2025

With just weeks remaining before the deadline, businesses are encouraged to act immediately.
