Corney and Barrow

Helping Wine Merchants Corney & Barrow reduce their carbon footprint and energy bills with a new solar panel installation

Corney & Barrow are a prestigious wine merchant with a history dating back to 1780. They approached us with a clear objective: to significantly reduce their carbon footprint and lower their energy bills. Recognising the growing importance of sustainability in their industry and the increasing costs of energy, Corney & Barrow sought a comprehensive solution to achieve energy self-sufficiency and minimise their reliance on the grid.

Our Solar Solution

To meet Corney & Barrow’s goals, we designed and installed a state-of-the-art solar energy system designed to maximise efficiency and sustainability. The key components of the system included:

  • Solar Panels: Installation of 168 JA Solar panels, each with a capacity of 435 watts.
  • Mounting System: We used a Renusol mounting system, known for its durability, providing a secure and robust foundation for the solar panels.
  • Inverters and Storage: Our solar install team fitted 2 Growatt Hybrid inverters, each with a capacity of 25 kW, paired with a substantial 40 kWh of storage. This configuration allows for efficient energy conversion and storage, ensuring a steady supply of power even during periods of low solar generation.

System Specifications

  • Total Capacity: 73.08 kW (168 panels x 435 W)
  • Energy Storage: 40 kWh
  • Inverter Capacity: 50 kW (2 x 25 kW)

The Impact and Benefits of a new Solar Panel Install

The implementation of this solar energy system has already had a profound impact on Corney & Barrow’s operations. The solar PV system provides Corney & Barrow with 54% self-sufficiency, significantly reducing their reliance on the national grid. This level of independence not only contributes to energy security but also protects their business from annual energy price fluctuations.

By generating a significant portion of their energy on-site, Corney & Barrow has made a substantial reduction in their carbon emissions. This aligns with their commitment to sustainability and enhances their reputation as an environmentally responsible company.

The Financial Savings of Solar Power

The reduction in energy bills has been a significant financial benefit for Corney and Barrow. The initial investment in the solar energy system will be quickly recouped through savings in energy costs, making it a financially viable and environmentally friendly solution for the business going forwards.

The entire system was supplied by Greentech, a leader in sustainable energy solutions. Having worked with Greentech on many solar pv installations, their expertise and high-quality components ensured the success of the project, providing Corney & Barrow with a reliable and efficient energy system.

The successful implementation of the solar energy system by our solar installers has enabled Corney & Barrow to achieve their sustainability goals while also benefiting the business financially. By reducing their carbon footprint and energy bills, they have set a benchmark for other businesses in the industry to follow.

As always, we take pride in knowing that this new solar panel installation has been completed to the highest of standards and exemplifies how strategic investments in renewable energy can drive both environmental and economic benefits for businesses in the UK who are considering switching to solar power as we all move towards net-zero together.

Moving to green energy generated by solar panel installations for your commercial business has huge potential savings you can make on energy bills; and all by putting your unused roof space to good use.

Solar panels for commercial purposes can save your business money on their energy bills while presenting opportunities to sell surplus power back to the national grid and giving your business financial stability in the ever chaotic energy market. At Low Energy Services, we are a leading commercial solar panel installer covering Scotland and the North of England. We have worked with commercial businesses big and small ranging from office building solar panel installs to multi site systems for well known fast food chains.
